Breakfast & Yarn

February 26, 2012 Marie Leave a Comment

Breakfast Sunday took a nice little break today. My incredibly thoughtful husband, knowing how much it means to me to have our weekly fare together and also knowing how miserable I’ve been the last few days, decided to take me out for breakfast. No pictures to share, though – I always feel so weird about taking pictures in public. Like I have 50 eyes watching me and judging the weird nerdy girl taking pictures of her food like it’s something special.

Baby camel/merino blend. 20z. 320ish yards. So incredibly soft. Not sure what I want to knit this into. My niece was here as I wound it off the bobbin and said it looked like Rapunzel’s hair when she braided it (she was referring to the movie Tangled). Silly girl.

The weekend

:: Breakfast Sunday, something I’m trying hard to make a habit now.
:: Lots of spinning while being holed up in the house from snow.
:: Pretty daylight on the indoor plants thanks to aforementioned snow.
:: A much more labor-intense painting project than anticipated resulting in just a single wall painted.
:: A little hyacinth growing ever-so-carefully on a window sill
I have a to-do list full of things to get done today. The weekend was pretty tame, as you can see. I spent a good part of it just relaxing and recuperating after not feeling well, so today has become the ‘catch up’ day to get back on track. So far the day seems to be slipping away from me faster than I’d like.

Love like winter

AFI on Pandora. Practicing my embroidery on some scrap fabric (not that I need a new hobby or anything). Spinning ever so slowly through the fiber on my wheel (just some generic merino/silk blend I ordered ages ago). There is plenty to do around here, but I’m putting it off until tomorrow. One day of relaxing and playing with projects around the house won’t hurt anything.

Welcome

Pardon the garden. A phrase I’m most likely to utter anytime anyone visits the house during the growing seasons of spring through fall. Sure, there are pretty flowers and delicious veggies in there somewhere, but they might be a little hard to find amidst the mess of overgrown grass, dandelions, and weeds that have found their way in there and haven’t been pulled.
