Rare evenings

The baby is in bed, the house is surprisingly clean (for now) with all the baby paraphernalia tucked away for the day. It’s one of those rare evenings that seem to happen once in a blue moon. Those kinds of nights where everything went well and I’m not so exhausted that I can’t be bothered to pick up my needles and knit and truly relax. With days where one thing blurs into the next, and days where I can’t even remember what I had for lunch, evenings like this are precious.

The scarf for the husband is coming along quite nicely, though the dark colors make it hard to see at night. It seems to be knitting up much faster than I imagined it would – I can only hope that this means he’ll have his scarf before winter actually ends.

The Yarn Harlot’s post a few days ago has me itching to play with my spinning wheel again. The poor wheel has been tucked upstairs in the hallway, and I think a spider might have found a new home between two of the wheel spokes. She looks so sad not having anything on her, and every time I go upstairs I feel like she’s whispering, begging me to come back. I have fiber in my stash, and while I still have tons of projects yet to be knit I might have to listen to that little whisper and whip up some pretty new handspun yarn. Even if I just spin it up and gift it to a friend.
